I love Autumn – being a typical Celt with blue - white skin, sun does not agree with me. I love Gnomes because –who doesn’t? A mix of the two is a win – win from me. The face & beard are knit with Autumnal shades of Aran – the first two layers & DK for the orange & mustard. The hat is made with 2 strands of DK held together. The squirrel, pumpkin & toadstools are made with 4ply yarn. I debated using some lights with this. Should be easy to do with the pack tucked into the hat brim at the back. Everything is knit flat
Materials
4mm needles – I used double pointed ones as they are easier for me to handle
3mm needles for the DK leaves – again double pointed for ease of handling – you can use any needles you have, I just find these easier.
2mm needles for 4 ply
5mm circular needles with a 30cm cord. Long single pointed needles would be fine as well
100g of Stylecraft special yarn DK in spice for hat
30g Stylecraft special DK in Mustard
35g Stylecraft special DK in clementine
50g Stylecraft special Aran in Copper
50g Stylecraft special Aran in Copper
5g Stylecraft special DK in Toy – which is a flesh colour
Small amounts of Drops alpaca in rust, orange, red & white
Scraps of light green 4ply
Burgundy faux fur yarn – this was in my stash, sirdar funky fur – or similar
Safety beads for eyes, or, use French knots.
Crochet hook. I used my trusty Victorian bone one. I have no idea of the size, but, any size will do.
Small amount of fibrefill toy stuffing
