Autumn Leaves Hooded Shrug
A pretty little shrug in warm autumn colors adorned with a coordinating long crocheted vine appliqué of leaves at the center back, with a shorter matching sprig on the hood. The pattern size is completely customizable to your measurements and I provide easy directions for making it your own.
The shrug is crocheted in my favorite simple crochet stitch, which is very easy to do, looks like the knit stockinette stitch, and creates a lovely warm fabric with fabulous drape in DK yarn. Best of all, the stitch for everything except the leaves is created using only slip stitches and single crochet, so anyone at any level can do it! Repeating rows make it a wonderfully meditative stitch.
Although the main yarn I used for this project is unfortunately discontinued, this shrug can be crocheted in any DK yarn and I provide lots of yarn substitutions in similar colorways. You will need at the maximum about 1000 yards of self striping DK yarn, and 450 yards of coordinating DK yarn for the back center panel and hood.
The following stitches are used to complete the pattern:
Chain (ch)
Slip Stitch (sl)
Single Crochet (sc)
Back Loop Single Crochet (blsc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Back Loop Half Double Crochet (blhdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Back Loop Double Crochet (bldc)
I am happy to answer any questions you have about the pattern! I am MadStash on Ravelry.
