The pumpkin is worked flat and shaped with short rows, increases and decreases. Stem is worked in the round.

The pattern (15 pages) includes written instructions and charts (it is not necessary to read charts) for knitting two different types of pumpkins in three sizes.

The pumpkin size depends on the yarn, knitting tension and filling density. In order to keep fabric tight enough so that the stuffing won’t show through, use needles smaller than recommended for the yarn.

Required skills:
Provisional Cast On
Knit, Purl
Increases, Decreases
German short rows
Kitchener Stitch or 3-needle Bind Off
Work in the round (small diameter)

Pumpkin may be knit in any yarn (weight, fiber etc), this information is just for example:

Gauge: 28 stitches and 50 rows = 10 cm (in Stockinette)

Yarn: 26-45 meters (29-49 yards) of any Sport-weight Yarn
e.g.: Drops Safran (100% Cotton, 160m/50g)
For stem: approximately 2-3 m of yarn in a different color.

Needles: №2 — 2.25mm (US 0 - US 1), depends on your knitting tension

Approximate size of the resulting pumpkin and how much yarn is needed for it:
Small: d ~ 7cm (2¾”), 8 g — 26 m (29 yds)
Medium: d ~ 8cm (3⅛”), 11 g — 35 m (38 yds)
Large: d ~ 9cm (3½”), 14 g — 45 m (49 yds)
For stem: 2-3 m of yarn in a different color.
