Through all the weary, hot midsummer time,
My heart has struggled with its awful grief.
And I have waited for these autumn days….

-An Autumn Reverie by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

Inspired by the romantic costumes and wild Cornish coastlines in the PBS series Poldark, I have designed this lace and textured wrap to keep the heart warm while enjoying the reverie of autumn days. The majority of the wrap is knit in seed stitch, with a horseshoe lace edging to add beauty and interest.

Designed to be worn in a variety of ways, there is enough length for most wearers to wear the wrap twisted around both shoulders and neck for a caplet effect and extra warmth. It may also be worn as a shawl or wrap, or a generously sized cowl. The size may be adjusted by adding or omitting lace repeats.

It is knit on size US 13/9.0mm needles while holding two strands of worsted weight yarn held double, making this a quick project.

This pattern uses provisional cast on and three needle bind off. But you can simplify it by using a regular cast on and bind off of your choice and seaming the edges together using the backstitch method.

Note: Lace is charted only.
