GAUGE:
12 SC x 15 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm (in SC BLO pattern)
12 DC x 8 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm (in DC cross stitch pattern)

SIZES:
Toddler 1-3 yrs (Child 4-10 yrs, Teen/Adult Small 11-18 yrs, Adult Medium)

To fit head circumference:
19” (20”, 21”, 22”) / 48.25 (51, 53.5, 56) cm

ABBREVIATIONS (US terms):
WW - worsted weight
SL ST - slip stitch
SC - single crochet
SC BLO - single crochet through back loop only
DC - double crochet
DC2tog - double crochet two stitches together

NOTES:
Any worsted weight yarn will work for this pattern, however, be mindful that not all WW yarn is created equal…some tend to be a little thinner and some a little thicker, which will affect gauge. Nor is each individual crocheter created equal, also potentially affecting gauge. If you find that when making your swatch you use fewer stitches/rows, you may need to go down a hook size; if you use more, go up a hook size. The gauge I have provided is just a guideline, with more importance put on the suggested measurements. I have provided instructions on how to decrease or increase size below. If all else fails, measure the person’s head for whom you are making this hat and use that as your guide.
