“Autumn Sunlight” vest is knitted from the top down with a traveling cable pattern. The front armscye is deeper than the back for a better fit and to enhance appearance. The ribbing, which resembles a French sleeve design, fits gently over the shoulders.
This design is a collaboration with Wool Decanted, a British yarn maker of soft and fine yarns made from selected 100% British wool.
The name of this vest came to me one afternoon, when a ray of sunlight through the window illuminated the stitch pattern, looking like golden wheat shining on an autumn day. It was incredibly beautiful.

NOTES
The top-down garment is knit flat from the back houlders, working back and forth to the underarm. Next, pick up stitches along the shoulders and work both front pieces separately, shaping the neckline. After joining the front to finish the neckline, and working to the underarm, join the back and front in the round and continue knitting straight in the round to the hem.
The neck band and armhole ribbing stitches are picked up and worked once the body is complete.
The shoulder and armhole ribbing is shaped with German short rows.
Modification tips
Both the neck band and sleeve ribbings can be made shorter. Just work until your desired length without German short row shaping. The vest will have a classical round neck silhouette.
Garment body length is also easily adjustable – knit until your desired body length.
