Avala Sweater
Avala sweater is an advanced beginner, top down, raglan sweater knitting pattern.You will hold two strands of yarn together throughout the pattern, one strand of wool and one strands of alpaca silk yarn. Worked in the round in stockinette stitch all the way through.
Measurements – S, M, L
Length, centre front: 50cm/ 19,6“ ;53 cm /20,8“ 56 cm/22“
Chest measurement (circumference): 110cm/43,3“ ; 116 cm/45,6“; 122 cm/48“
Skills: This is an easy level knitting pattern and the techniques involved are the knit stitch,purl stitch, m1r and m1l increases,k2tog, yarn over,picking up stitches, working in the round, and seaming.
Supplies
Suggested needle sizes:
U.S. Size 8 (5 mm) circular knitting needles 40 cm /16“ ( or double pointed needles) and 80 cm (24“)
U.S. Size 10,75 (7.0 mm) circular knitting needles 40 cm /16“ (or 60 cm) and 80 cm (30“) For the sleeves, should you like to, you’re welcome to use DPNs if that makes you more comfortable.
Yarn:
Drops Air yarn, color:Wheat 02 - Yardage: 50 g = approx 150 m – 4 skeins S,5 skeins (M) 6 skeins (L)
Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk light beige
uni colour 04 – yardage: 25 g = approx 140 m – 5 skeins S and M,6 skeins L
Note that the design is worked in 2 strands of yarn held together throughout the pattern
Gauge: 7 mm needles:11 stitches x 15 rows in stockinette stitch = 10 cm
NOTE: The gauge/tension may vary from person to person, as this sweater is very loose and easy to wear the gauge/tension is only approximate.
