Avalanche Hat
Watch out! There is a bobble rolling down this hat and it is getting bigger as it rolls down your head! The meandering path of “snowballs” rolling down the hill may look like twisted stitches, but it is actually formed by a tiny lace repeat.
Difficulty - Intermediate
The pattern includes bobbles, a tiny lace repeat, and triple decreases.
Pattern is both charted and written out.
Requires one 16 inch circular needle US size 10 and one set of 4 dpns, US size 10 to work top shaping.
Finished measurement of 20.5 circumference and gauge of 3.5 st/inch was achieved in the recommended yarn in stockinette stitch and before blocking.
Pattern is pictured with a detachable faux fur pom pom. The beanie style looks great with a pom pom for extra height, but it is also lovely without one because the bobbles at the top of the hat form an attractive snowflake pattern.
