Avalanche Hood
Though I live in California now, and rarely see a single snowflake all winter, I can’t help but knit for the frozen climate of the east coast where I grew up. I love the cozy warmth of cold-weather accessories, and the Avalanche hood is just what I envision wearing if I were back in the ice and snow. It is a bold, fairytale-inspired design that is different from a typical hat or scarf, but is just as practical. The hood can be worn up, to shelter you from the cold, or worn down as a capelet to cover your shoulders.
Avalanche is a quick knit in super bulky yarn, and can be finished in just a day or two. The hood itself is knit flat with simple short-row shaping, and the textural clamshell-stitch border is added after the fact, and knit in the round.
