Aventurijn
Green hues, from light to dark, gently silvery. All shimmering and glistening. This is a truly mesmerizing sight, so much so that a word had to be created for it: aventurescence! Aventurijn is Dutch for aventurine, a form of quartz known for its translucency and shiny mineral inclusions, usually a form of mica. The name aventurine derives from the Italian “a ventura” meaning “by chance”, an allusion to its lucky discovery by Italian glass workers.
The Aventurijn cowl combines knitted-lace stitch patterns echoing each other and forming staggered diamonds and shallow lacy chevrons. A soft and drapey yarn with slight sheen complements the lace and is the perfect recipe for an elegant accessory. Wait no more: It’s your turn to feel lucky and wrap yourself in glistening goodness!
Aventurijn is pronounced /a.vɑ̃.ty.rɛin/
For best effect, use a round yarn with good stitch definition. Yarn weights ranging from fingering to DK would be suitable. As for colorways, I would recommend solid, semi-solid, speckled, or gradient (single skein or gradient set) yarns.
