Aveza
This design came about as an attempt to tackle my ever growing stash of sock yarn scraps. I wanted something that used a lot of small amounts of yarn, and could be knit to any size. As the parent of a rainbow obsessed 5 year old, I happened to have a full spectrum rainbow of scraps, however this can also be made with just 1 or 2 contrast colors if desired.
Although this is knit flat, a circular needle is required for slipping stitches back and forth.
The large gray shawl has a wingspan of 74” (188cm), and used 150g (525 yards) of main color, and a total of 50g (185 yards) of contrast color, with 18 stripes. The small pink shawl has a wingspan of 42” (106cm) used just 50g (175 yards) of main color, and a total of 16g (58 yards) of contrast color, with 10 stripes.
Regardless of how large you choose to make your shawl the ratio of main color to total contrast color will be roughly 3:1.
Also available as a kit from Craftsy. Kit includes 1 skein (100g) of MC, and 5 mini skeins (25g each). Finished shawl will have a wingspan of 67”, with 16 CC stripes.
