The Avis Shawl pattern provides both an engaging and repetitive design so that adventurous beginners and experienced crocheters will find that this crochet triangle shawl pattern satisfies their creative itch for a challenge or familiarity.
This crochet shawl is an interesting, meditative design that allows you to indulge in fun techniques that combine to create a wonderfully drapey shawl. While the pretty picot edging adds a delicate detail, popcorn and post stitches add a pop of texture for a truly stunning piece to add to your handmade wardrobe.
The pattern uses US crochet terminology and includes stitch charts.
Materials & Tools:
- Yarn: Kokonki Kokonek Pure 240g = 1200m, (100% merino wool) or any other fingering weight yarn.
- Hook size 3.5mm. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
- Tapestry needle (to weave and hide yarn ends).
- Scissors.
- Stitch markers.
Level: Intermediate – back loop single crochet, front loop single crochet, front post single crochet, back loop double crochet, picot stitch, popcorn stitch.
Size after blocking:
Wingspan - 173cm/68”,
Center depth - 80cm/31.5”.
Gauge after blocking:
After Row 21 the triangle is approx. 16cm/6.3” high.
Gauge is not crucial for this project. However, changes might result in a different yardage requirements and the finished size.
