Avocado Toast Hat
The Avocado Toast hat, knit in the round with a light, lofty yarn and a simple all-over texture punctuated by contrasting stripes is perfect for every day of the winter. The stripes in the sample were knit with a contrast yarn that was dyed with buckthorn berries, resulting in a soft green that resembles smooth crushed avocados piled on crusty, toasted bread. This is a perfect excuse for you to use that special mini-skein of hand-dyed or handspun yarn that has been just a bit too special to use anywhere else. Like avocado toast, this hat is just slightly indulgent and shows off your good taste.
Yarn
Badgerface Fiber WAM DK.
55 g (150 yds) (75 g (200 yds), 95 g (250 yds))
Contrast Yarn
7 g (16 yds)(8 g (19 yds), 9 g (22 yds))
Badgerface Fiber WAM is a thick and thin yarn between DK and worsted weight in a blend of wool, alpaca, and mohair. If you’re substituting yarn, pick a DK (or light worsted) weight yarn with a slight halo.
For the contrast yarn, pick anything with appropriate yardage. You may achieve interesting effects with lighter or heavier weight yarn. The sample was knit with a fingering weight, naturally dyed contrast yarn.
