Away with the Fairies
Ireland has a rich culture of storytelling and is famous for its fairy-lore. You can take tours to visit fairy forts, buy a fairy door to invite a fairy to your home and the fairies sometimes even get blamed for any mishaps. When visiting Ireland you are surrounded by fairy tales all the time and it might happen you are away with the fairies…
The socks are knitted cuff down with an overall lace and cable pattern. They are worked with heel flap and gusset. The pattern is mirrored but, except for the ribbing, both socks are worked the same, using the appropriate chart for either right or left sock. If you prefer to have matching socks, work both socks using the same cuff instructions and the same chart for both socks.
They come in two sizes, women’s M to fit leg circumference 20 cm (7.75”) and L to fit leg circumference 24 cm (9.5”). Leg length results in 22 cm (8.5)“ when knit as given in the pattern, adjustable.
You can choose to work the lace and cable pattern either from the charts or the written instructions.
Material: 1 skein of fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 365 m (400 yds) per 100 g.

The Away with the Fairies pattern is also available as part of the Irish at Heart eBook.
