This pattern is for a mosaic crochet square that can be used in other types of projects, such as blankets, pillows, satchel bags, table mats, etc.

Any yarn or hook will work, depending on the desired size of the finished square. I used a yarn weight of 4 with a 5.5 hook, which creates a square of 13.5” x 13”.

You will need at least 4 colors of yarn - two for the background (water & sky) and two for the sailboat & it’s shadow. You could also use variegated yarn for the background. The sample image uses many different colors for the background rows, although one color for the water & another color for the sky would also look good.

This is a great way to use up scraps! This project takes just under 4 oz of medium weight yarn (approx 200 yards)
