Awhi Shawl
Awhi (said Ar-fe) means to embrace, hug, cherish in te reo Māori and the Awhi shawl is a versatile hug. The pattern is written for both Sport weight and DK / worsted weight yarn. It can be knit wider / narrower and longer / shorter to fit. The joined edge can either be seamed together once finished or buttonholes worked into the border whilst knitting. It can also be worn stockinette side out or reverse stockinette side out depending on which side you sew on the buttons / seam it. The desired width is cast on, and then a small moss stitch border worked, the body is worked for the desired length, finishing with a small moss stitch border again.
