Azalea - Bohus Inspired by Kerstin Olsson

Azalea - Bohus Inspired

Azalea is a charted design element which can be used in conjuction with pattern instructions from Bohus Stickning på nytt The Revival. Charts have been published for both a top down yoked sweater or a sweater with shawl collar. It was designed by Kerstin Olsson for Bohus Stickning some time in 1963. A photo of two original pattern cards were published by the Bohuslan Museum in their digital collection in late 2024. It is referenced in Bohus Stickning på nytt The Revival on p. 146 as design 1107 from 1963. The pattern reference in the book and on the pattern card describe the pattern as being made from the Bohus Stickning angora merino yarn. A photo of an original pattern card is shown here.

10 shades of pinks to burgundy are used in the design. The majority (although not all) of these colours have been replicated by AngoraGarnet and may be available to purchase from them. Other pattern cards or test samples may be available to view on the Bohus Stickning section of the DigitaltMuseum.
