Inspired by Scott & John of the “Sweet Tea, No Shade” podcast, this cowl is a quick and easy knit, available in two sizes, and is fully adaptable. Enjoy the changing textures and plethora of color options afforded by working with two strands of fingering weight held together; a perfect opportunity to experiment with marling.
Sizes and Finished Measurements:
The cowl pattern is written in two sizes: Short (Tall)
20” (50.8 cm) circumference and 8 ½” (21.6 cm) top to bottom (20” (50.8 cm) circumference and 11” (28 cm) top to bottom)
Measurements will vary depending on how strongly or subtly you block your finished piece.
Yarn Requirements:
60g each of any two colors Fingering Weight. Pattern is worked using two yarns held together as one. Your options are endless. Use two colors that are identical, are different but complement each other, or are in complete contrast. Use two fingering weights of the same or different content or texture. Incorporate yarns with stellina or a fiber that halos. Whatever your heart desires will work.
“Short” is shown in: Merino Fine by Palouse Yarn Company
4 oz/113 g – 475 yards, color: Walnut and Mechita by Malabrigo 100g – 420 yards, color: Mandragora
“Tall” is shown in Pashmina by Madeline Tosh 100 g – 360 yards, color: mineral and Kelpie Sock by Supernatural Yarns 100g – 490 yards, color: Claimed
Recommended Needles:
Size 8 (5.0mm) 16” circular (or size required to get gauge)
Supplies:
Stitch Marker, Tapestry Needle for weaving in ends.
Gauge:
20 stitches / 28 rounds = 4”/ (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch in the round on US 8 (5.0mm) washed and blocked.
