This crochet tin cover is amazing because it holds its shape no matter what you put in it! It’s watertight and sturdy so you can even stand plant pots in or flowers. I think they look amazing as a tissue holder and the little square tissue boxes fit in perfectly. In fact, it can hold just about anything given the tin interior. Simply recycle an old biscuit, tea bag, coffee or sugar tin for example or pick a cheap one up from the local pound shop.

Pattern is written in US terminology and includes row by row instructions, step by step pictures and intarsia crochet chart for the aztec design (1 square in chart = 1 sc). Pattern is made by first crocheting the base and then the sides using the chart, pictures and instructions provided.

Instructions are provided for both round and square shaped tins and for tins that are slightly smaller or taller than the size required for this design.

Materials required:

  • #4 weight yarn (x1 ball of each colour): deep red, light grey, navy and white.
  • 3mm hook (or size required to obtain gauge)
  • Stitch markers (or safety pins if you don’t have any)
  • Double-sided sticky tape
  • A recycled tin – either round or square with rounded corners (18” diameter, 6” tall can be adapted to fit a taller tin if desired)

Gauge: 10 stitches x 10 rows = 2” swatch

Thank you so much for considering this pattern! Your support is greatly appreciated. Without you, my little shop wouldn’t be possible! x
