B2B Tiles
For these tiles I got back to the basic (B2B) idea for carreaux crochet: French floor tiles. There are eight different designs, which you can combine.
The red/gray tiles in the mismatched blanket are made with acrylique yarn. One without label and the other one was “Bolzano” (50 gr ~ 175 m). Per tile I needed 25 - 30 meter per color. Plus 3.5 meter of the third color for “Corner” and “Rails”.
For the mini potholders / washclotes I used the same amount of “Sunny” from Cheval Blanc, with hook 3.5 mm. They measure approximative 12 x 12 cm.
Some other try-outs with “Royal” from Zeeman (100 gr ~ 241 m) and hook 6 mm needed 35 to 40 meter per tile, per color. They measure approximative 16 x 16 cm.
Since there are riders, yankers and lifters it is possible that your tiles are not (perfect) squares (mine either  ). They are designed to be joined together no matter what your gauge is.
You can use any kind of yarn. Choose the biggest crochet hook that is adviced on the label, or even bigger. This makes the crochet technique easier.
There are instructions to join them together with crochet or sewing, depending on your project. I used dark gray yarn (Phildar Midland 175) and hook 3.5 mm to attach the acrylique tiles as well as the once with “Royal”. For the acrylique tiles I’ve used approximative 3 meter to attach two sides, for the Royals 4 meter. For the sewing of my mismatch potholder I used the ends of the yarn.
