These adorable mittens feature folk art sheep on the back of the hand and palms worked in traditional Chipman’s Block pattern. They have generous ribbed cuffs and simple afterthought thumbs.

If you knit them with 2.75 mm needles, they’ll fit a small lady’s hand. Finished measurements of the mitten are 8-1/2 inch hand circumference, 7 inch hand length. If you use a bigger needle, you’ll get a bigger mitten. 3.25 mm needles will make a Lady’s Large.

You will need one skein each of Dark Grey and Washed White, but you’ll have lots left over. You will also need small quantities of blue, pink, green, yellow and black. If you have leftover sock yarns in your stash, they would work well for the accents.

Once the mittens are knitted and blocked, the fun really starts! You can embellish and embroider them any way you like. The pattern includes a guide for embroidery and duplicate stitch decorations.
