Pattern Description from Interweave Knits, Spring 2009: “Simple moss stitch has a sculptural, intensely tactile quality when Becca Smith blows it up with unspun wool roving and size 50 needles. A wool reinforcing thread and needlefelted embellishments give the Baa Rug structure and durability.”
Finished Size: 26” wide, 45” long, and 1½“ thick before felting; 20” wide, 33” long, and 1” thick after felting (as shown).
Yarn: Brown Sheep Nature Spun Fingering (100% wool; 310 yd 283 m/50 g): #601 pepper, 1 ball.
Fiber: Brown Sheep 100% Wool Roving (100% wool): copper, 4 lbs; black, 6 oz.
Needles: Size 50 (25 mm): 24” straight needles. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Needlefelting needle; optional supplies for felting: mild dish soap; white vinegar; thick rubber gloves.
