Welcome to the Babel Hat, a tower of chunky stitches inspired by Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and the Art Deco era.
Soft & strong, this is an excellent quick knit. One size for adult heads.
Gauge can be a tricky thing with cables. When finished the hat will be squanched up. I’m giving a rule of 3.5 sts per inch in cable. You can block to the measurements given in pattern. But blocking is not necessary.

I used our Stitch & Make Yarn Company (or SAM for short)
STOCK yarn for this hat. It’s a delightful chonker of ultra fine merino wool. Soft as can be and plant dyed. In pattern is our Logan colorway. A logwood dusty grey plum color.
If making a pom pom to match then 2 skeins are necessary. Substitutions are listed in pattern but any bulky soft high quality yarn with a minimum of 110 yards would do.

I’m trying to get all of our hand dyed yarns listed here in Ravelry but It’s taking some time.

This hat requires US9 (5.5mm) 16” circular needle. US10.5 (6.5mm) 16” circular needle, Pair of US10.5 (6.5mm) Dbl point needles. and if needed a medium sized cable needle.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and as always Happy Knitting!
