Baboon/Mandrill
This pattern I have called Baboon, although I think to be precise he is a Mandrill. Apart from his soulful eyes, I do hope you notice his prominent brow and his brilliant bright bottom.
All the pieces are knitted flat on two needles. There is short row knitting to get the realistic curves on the arms and legs, and some picking up of stitches, and seams to sew. But I promise you will end of with the most realistic monkey in town. The pattern is set out clearly and has photographs and diagrams to help you.
I have recommended a wool: Sirdar Escape DK, and although any other DoubleKnit wool will work, I think the texture and colour changes of this wool works really well.
If you knit him I would love to see your finished baboon.
I have two baboons already made for sale in my Etsy shop, which you can find through my blog.
