Here’s a versatile pattern for baby hats with an animal theme! Lots to choose from with many options.

This pattern if for Bulky Knitting Machines with or without a Ribber.

Pattern comes in 4 sizes: Newborn (3 Months, 6 Months, 12 Months)
Finished Hat Circumference (approximately): 13-1/2” (14-1/2”, 15-1/2”, 16-1/2”)

Directions are given for ribbing (if you have a ribber) and for hung hems (if you don’t) with an option for a picot edging on the hung hems.

There are also 3 options for securing the hat: attached ties, gathered ties (through the hung hem) or a ribbed chin strap with button or snap, so fussy mommies can be accommodated to baby’s needs.

Hat is constructed so that you sew-as-you-go. It will come off the machine with little to do but sew on the ears. Everything is done on the machine - hat, ears, attached ties or chin strap and button or snaps.

Yarn: Aran Weight (US Medium - size 4 yarn)
Gauge: 18 stitches and 24 rows = 4 inches
Notions: You will also need a button or snaps for the chin strap option.
