Baby Banner with Heart
This pattern is for a filet crochet banner to welcome home baby. It could be done in pink or blue (or any color) to indicate if it is for a baby girl or boy. This banner would make a great decoration at the door of a baby shower, on the door when baby comes home, or on the door at the hospital. It would also make a nice table decoration at a baby shower, as a table runner if you leave off the dowel rod hanger. This was made with Red Heart baby sport pompador yarn, but it could be done with any sport weight yarn, and an F hook (or size needed for gauge). Gauge isn’t terribly important with this pattern, but if you would like it to be about the same size as mine (8” wide by 31” long), then I’ve listed the directions for that.
Also with the pattern, are links to youtube videos that explain how to do the filet stitch with 3 dc squares. I’ve also attached how to do the chainless foundation row, which I prefer. You do not have to do that, but I feel it gives a nicer edge. Also included is an option for wrapping the dowel rod with yarn rather than weaving it into the top row; whichever you prefer. I’ve attached a written out version of the pattern with X for filled in squares, and O for open squares if you would rather that and get confused with going left to right and right to left on the graphs. I’ve also attached the graphs if that is your preference.
Please let me know if you have any questions! If you’d like to see a variation of this pattern, let me know and I’ll post it here for you too!
Please note that it’s ok for you to sell the finished items made from my pattern, but NOT the pattern or chart. Do not give them out free either. I try to keep these patterns inexpensive so that anyone can try out filet crochet with sport weight yarn like this.
