Baby Bean Hat and Mitten Set
This is the first piece I designed for the baby I’ll be having in September! (I named it after our nick name for him -- Baby Bean.)
Similar to the “ear” type hats, this is a little more subtle in its shaping with simple little peaks that are formed by the side panels, making it super cute for any wee one.
This pattern includes simple thumb-less mittens for smaller babies to keep those little hands warm in cold weather.
Materials Needed:
~ worsted weight yarn
~ Hook: J / 10 / 6.0 mm
~ Yarn needle
Notes:
~ All stitches are done in BLO
~ BLO slip stitches and Short Row techniques are used in this pattern. If either are new to you, see the helpful tips on page 6.
Gauge:
~ 8 BLO sl sts x 12 rows = 1.5 inches
Sizing:
~ Using BLO SLSTs result in pieces with a lot of stretch. I’ve made 2 sizes for both the hat and the mittens which should fit most young children.
