This adorable Baby Bear is fun to crochet and makes a charming wall hanging or applique. I used worsted weight yarn in a dusty medium purple with ecru contrast and blue and pink accents, but you can create Baby Bear in any colors you choose to match any décor or taste. The pattern includes instructions to make a wall hanging, or, skip the hanging details and just make an applique to use on a unique quilt or baby blanket. Make one for yourself and several as gifts! Baby Bear measures about 18” tall from tip of ears to bottom of feet, 14” from top of head to bottom of body, 15.5” across from edge of paw to edge of paw, 9” across body.

Materials:

Yarn: Red Heart Super Saver, 100% Acrylic, Worsted Weight (4), 364 yards per skein. Approximate amounts needed for Baby Bear:

Medium Purple #E300-0528 (60 yds.)
Buff #E300-0334 (25 yds.)
Light Periwinkle #E300-0347 (6 yds.)
Black #E300-0312 (5 yds.)
Light Raspberry #E300-0774 (2 yds.)

Hook: G Hook for Bear. The optional Rosette for the wall hanging is made with a J hook. Gauge is not important on this project.

For Wall Hanging:

Dowel – about 3/8 diameter, 14” to 15” (longer lengths can be cut)
Note: Craft stores sell dowels in lengths of about 3 feet which you can cut. If you buy one at a home improvement stores, they will usually cut it for you. You can cut the dowel yourself VERY CAREFULLY using a small hacksaw.
