Socks are a nice gift idea because they are practical, quick to knit, don’t require much yarn but yet are super cute!

The only challenge is the sizing - we suggest knitting the 6 to 12 month size as a 1st birthday present, if less than 12 months old we suggest changing the yarn to fingering weight and knitting the foot length to 2¾ inches then start shaping the toe. For a baby turning 2 we suggest knitting the 12 to 24 month size and if 18 months old we suggest changing the yarn to fingering weight.

The baby birthday socks are knitted top down and come with photo instructions for a tubular cast on and a template to make a cardboard sock for blocking.

The pattern also works well in fingering weight (4ply) yarn.
