This baby blanket uses seed stitch to knit the main square portion of the blanket and is finished using crochet for a three tiered border with two sides finished in bobbles that are crafted from half double crochets.

Pattern made on Birch Creative Coolum Chunky yarn, a 14ply 55% Acrylic/45% Cotton yarn in colour 06 Mushroom. This blanket used 7.5 balls (each ball is 100g and approx. 70m/76.5yards) to produce a finished blanket of approximately 105cm (41”) square plus bobbles when blocked.

Techniques used - both knit and crochet:

  • Long tail or cable cast on
  • Seed stitch
  • Single crochet
  • Slip stitch
  • Chain
  • Half double crochet (used in bobble making)

Yarn sub doesn’t list Birch Creative Coolum Chunky (which I sourced at Spotlight here in Australia) however Moda Vera Hampton Soft Chunky Cotton Blend is practically identical and it searches in Yarn Sub. The Panda Soft Cotton Chunky was a good yarn sub match so I thought I’d include that as a yarn option too.

This is my first pattern for sale, I hope you enjoy it.
