Baby Blocks Blanket Set
I have added a worsted wt. version of this set as requested. The hat and booties will now fit probably up to 6 mos. and the blanket is a few inches bigger too.
This is a 3 piece set- blanket, hat and booties.
Blanket is knit with seed stitch border and blocks of stockinette which change every 10 rows.
** Note: when working the block pattern, when instructed to continue for 10 rows you are working stockinette- knitting the knits, purling the purls. Depending on how many blocks you decide to make, an odd number of blocks will begin with purl 10 on second row, an even number will begin with knit 10 on second row, etc.
Hat and booties have little blocks also. The dk blanket is knit with 2 strands held together.Worsted wt. blanket is knit with one strand. The hat and booties in both versions are knit with 1 strand.
The blanket is designed with a hole in center to accomodate a buckle on a car seat or similar device. This can be left out if desired
Hat and booties in DK fit newborn to about 3 mos.and are knit with one strand of yarn and size 7 needles. Hat is knitted in the round, booties are knit flat and seamed.
You will need circular, about 24” or long straights to knit blanket, and either circulars or dpn’s, whatever your preferred method for knitting in the round for the hat, any needle for the booties.
When knitting the hole portion, I just used the other end of the 2 skeins of yarn to knit the one side, as it is only needed to knit about 6 rows. Alternativley, ther are more notes in the pattern.
You could substitute worsted wt. instead of using dk and use one strand. This version of pattern is included.
This will work fine and the hat and booties will come out a little larger.
2020- added some clarification and slight changes to pattern and have a new version knitted in Cherub Aran, which follows the worsted wt version.
