This sweater jacket crochet pattern is designed to fit a 4-6 month old baby boy.
Made all in white, it can function as christening or baptism attire. Done up in colors, it becomes part of a special occasion or everyday outfit.

The garment is constructed with approximately 350 yards of sports weight yarn using both Size G (US 4mm) and Size F (US 3.75mm) crochet hooks. You will also need six buttons ½” to ¾”.

This crochet pattern requires intermediate skills. It is written in American style with numerous photos for clarification and tends to work up quickly.

Included in the pattern is a two-page tutorial for a beginning dc that I developed to use as an alternative to the traditional “ ch 3, Turn.” It helps eliminate the dreaded ch3 gap and it also provides a plump st for working a trim row. I used the beginning dc in all of the sample sweater jackets in the photos. This technique is encouraged, but crafters do not have to use it to successfully make the sweater jacket.

The garment shows off the diamond pattern stitch when worked in one color. Using two colors gives it a less formal appearance. Sports enthusiasts can choose team colors for a tailor-made, fun version of the little jacket.
