This pattern is a heartfelt one for me personally. I made it for my lovely granddaughter, Akyra after she was diagnosed with cancer. It’s soooo soft and the yarn is gorgeous and comforting. It’s simple enough for even a beginner knitter and attractive in it’s ribbed simplicity.

This pattern will be free forever in honor of my beautiful, sweet granddaughter, Akyra. I’ve only recently been strong enough to put this pattern on ravelry, it’s been such a loss for our family. Akyra passed away after battling a thalmic glioma for 19 months. We sold our home and we bought a home with my daughter and her family so we could all be there for each other during this time and forever more. Akyra has a younger brother who is now 16. He and Akyra were very close and he has felt this loss deeply. I feel so blessed to have been with Akyra every day since we moved in together and to have been there holding her hand as she took her last breath. Her doctors at Loma Linda Childrens Hospital here is southern California were angels and are the Hospice workers. They all made this journey with us and we are so thankful for them.
