I love this style hat – for both little girls and grown up girls! I was making lots of warm sweaters and hats for my new granddaughter and wanted to come up with something a bit different than the traditional ribbed hat with a pom-pom. This hat is what happened.

The pattern uses basic stitches – chains, single crochet, half-double crochet, double crochet and slip stitches. There is also a special group cluster stitch (directions in the pattern). You don’t need to have extensive experience, but you should be comfortable with working in rounds and with the stitches listed.
