baby doll
From original description: Select a doll 13 inches or 14 inches high, one with a pretty, fair, babyish face. Procure also 7 oz of Baldwin’s Beehive soft vest wool, white, 4 ply, No. 51, or pink No. 353, four steel knitting needles, No. 12, or if a tight knitter bone needles, No. 11; a fine bone crochet hook, and 1 1/2 yards of narrow ribbon.
Experiments have shown that considerably more than 7 oz of wool are needed if double knitting is used, which will make garments of the size to fit the doll suggested. If modern 4 ply is used, the outfit will be smaller.
The set consists of a pair of bootees, an under-petticoat, a top petticoat, a robe, a bonnet and a cloak.
This pattern originally appeared in Weldon’s Practical Knitter, 26th series, in 1894. It has been reproduced in many various publications since, perhaps most recently on knitty.com by franklin
