The intarsia hearts on the pinafore and cardigan are given in written instructions only. The heart on the underpants is worked as a motif, then is sewn on the garment.

Notes on Gauge:
22 sts and 28 rows to 10cm, (4in) over stocking stitch, 22 sts and 42 rows to 10cm, (4in) over garter stitch on 3¼mm needles or the size required to give correct tension. Check your tension - if less stitches use a thinner needle, if more use a thicker needle.

INTARSIA
When working with different balls of yarn the colour to be used should be twisted round the colour just used to link the colours together and avoid holes. Do not break off yarn and join in except where necessary.
