This christening dress crochet pattern is designed to fit a 4-6 month infant. It features the traditional look of lace, puffed sleeves, and ribbons tied in bows.

The work requires intermediate skill.

The pattern includes instructions for both the long christening dress and for a short dress. Both are made with sports weight yarn and a size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook.

The dress features a lacy skirt that hangs in gathers from the yoke and gets larger in circumference to its widest point at the hem. The dress yoke is constructed of simple dc/sc rows to give ample space for personalizing your baby girl’s dress with decorative ribbons, silk roses, buttons, jewelry, or crocheted florals.

A tutorial for steam blocking the dress is also included. All of the dresses in the sample photos have undergone this process.

A slip pattern printable is also included as a bonus. It’s ready to go in two lengths—one for the short dress and another for the christening dress. No resizing or redrawing necessary. Just print, assemble paper pattern, cut fabric, sew 4 straight seams, and follow the detailed instructions for adding crochet trim (with size 10 crochet cotton). You’ll love the look the custom-made slip gives your little girl’s outfit.
