A winsome and timeless set, which my mother designed many years ago for my sister, Pamela.

The bonnet and sweater yokes are knit in the all-over Mock Cable, a rhythmical and relatively easy stitch to knit. The pattern does require a little attention when working the Raglan decreases, because the decreases steadily break into the Mock Cable. The bonnet is a traditional shape, tied with ribbon or a wool braid, and has stay-on power, too.

This set is knit on #1, #2 and #3 needles and works well in the many wonderful yarns available in today’s market such as cotton, blends of wool and cotton or Superwash wool. Superwash wool not only guarantees an easily washable set, but also gives the wool a silky-smooth, soft feel, perfect for babies.
