This is a knitting pattern to make a baby display mannequin with moveable, posable arms, available as a pdf download. It fits up to 16” chest, or birth to 3 months, although a larger size is available on a separate pattern. The pattern includes full instructions for knitting the mannequin in double knitting yarn (suitable for an intermediate knitter) and photo instructions for making up the item.

If you’re like me, you’ll be producing beautiful handmade baby clothes but then struggling to photograph them for sale online. I found my lovely cardigans and matinee jackets ended up laid out flat on a table, looking a lot less pretty than they do in real life. I didn’t have a baby to model everything so looked for a display mannequin, only to find that they were very expensive or made of hollow, moulded plastic that did not look particularly realistic. I therefore set about designing my own, improving considerably on those already on the market and producing it for a fraction of the cost.

The illustrated model has moveable arms that can be posed in natural ways to display your wonderful baby clothes to their best advantage for online sales or on your own craft stall. It’s made very inexpensively from items you’ll already have to hand – yarn, a cardboard tube, a yoghurt pot, pipe-cleaners and toy stuffing.
