Sizing
Finished opossum measures 16” from nose to tail. He is approximately 4” wide at the belly with a 9” circumference. He is approximately 4” tall when standing on all fours.
To make the baby opossum amigurumi, you’ll need the following materials:
• 100% acrylic yarn, worsted weight (amounts and colors listed in the pattern)
• Crochet hook size: 4.00mm & 4.50mm
• At least 16” of 16-gauge aluminum craft wire and wire cutters
• Small amount of masking tape
• Knitting needle or some other long, thin implement (such as a chopstick or a stuffing stick that comes with Polyfil)
• Stuffing (I like Polyfil)
• Tapestry needle
• 8mm black safety eyes, round, or oval
• Sewing pins or some other way to pin crochet pieces in place
• Optional: Fabric glue
• Optional: dark brown or black eyeshadow (yes, like real makeup that you usually put on your face lol you can find lots of it at the dollar store!) and a round fluffy brush
Pattern Skill Level: Intermediate
Other skills to be familiar with: basic crochet stitches (sc, hdc, dc), decrease and increase stitches, crocheting around a wire, sewing separate crochet pieces together, working into the back of the foundation chain (to create an oval shape).
