The pattern makes a 3-6 month size, but it can easily be adjusted by decreasing/increasing the cast on by multiples of 8, increasing/decreasing the number of repeats, by using a different size of needle, or by blocking to size. Check your gauge and make appropriate adjustments.

I used the following guideline for hat size:
(Hat Circumference/Hat Height)

Newborn: 12-12.5”/4.5-5.5”
2 weeks to 3 months: 13-13.5”/5.5-6”
3 to 6 months: 14-14.5”/6-6.25”
6 to 9 months: 15”/6.25-6.6”
9 to 12 months: 15.5”/6.5”
