Baby Yoda - "The Child"
The adorable green character from the Star Wars television series “The Mandalorian”, floating around in hovering egg and popularly called “Baby Yoda”, is actually named “The Child”. In a very short time Baby Yoda (as I prefer to keep calling the cute bugger) has become an enormous internet hit. Supposedly, the puppet for the tv-character cost about $5 million to develop. Your own Baby Yoda is fortunately a whole lot more affordable plus a whole lot of fun to make!
Baby Yoda was made on 2.25 mm double pointed needles (UK 13, US 1) in Scheepjes Soft Fun Denim (516) sea green, Scheepjes Merino Soft (606) Da Vinci, Lopi Einband (0886) beige heather and (1038) light beige heather (worked together) and lace-gauged Tréliz Hestia in a peach shade. Optionally soft toy filling can be used.
This multi-functional Baby Yoda figure can be made into a toy, a hand puppet or placed over the inside of a toilet roll as a figurine. It measures 18 cm from head to feet and is an easy project, consisting of straightforward parts that are easily, individually made and assembled into the complete Baby Yoda. It has quite some defining characteristics, you can decide for yourself how many features you’d like to replicate on your own Baby Yoda.
The project asks for flat knitting and an instance of short rows. the face is embroidered and some crocheting is optional.
May the Force be with you! Viv
