“Back in the Sun” a Shawl Pattern in Two Acts.
By Corrado Lark
I’ve proudly released my first 3-color shawl design!
The Backstory:
Sometimes you need a project just for your own enjoyment. My designs are always inspired by the yarn, and by different shapes I’d like to wear. This guy starts out like a triangular shawl, and ends up a long, sloping parallelogram with a sun-ray like edging at the very end.
Yes, this shawl is male.
Here’s the story: I called the shawl a “guy” on Instagram while posting a teaser late this summer. In one of the comments, a man who had always thought of shawls as female or feminine thanked me for (unintentionally) changing his perception on shawls.
I hadn’t put much thought into it before, but now that I have, I believe shawls can be both male and female, because we all can knit. Knitting is something that is inclusive, not exclusive.
