Bad Batch socks
My family has always enjoyed the Star Wars movies and shows, and these socks were inspired by the good soldiers of the Bad Batch. I designed these for my husband who is a fantastic sock knitter and the biggest Star Wars fan I know. May the Force be with you!
Yarn and notions:
Yarn: 100g Fingering weight (300-425 yards)
Sample in Everyday Sock Fingering, by The Lab Fibers
Colourway: Moon Dust
Needles: 2.5mm
I used 2.25mm for the cuff to get a snug fit, then 2.5mm for the leg and foot, as the rank and file stitch of the panel makes a tighter fabric. You may want to use 2.75mm if you are a very tight knitter.! I use needles with a long cable for magic loop (or use your preferred needles such as 9 in circulars or dpns).
Gauge: 8sts = 1 inch in stockinette
*** The Rank and File stitch is executed by a repeat of 4 rounds, as described in the leg pattern instructions. It is not difficult to learn but it is important to pay attention to the placement of the yarn (sometimes in front, sometimes in back, sometimes being moved back and forth). It quickly becomes habit and the result is stunning.
*** I have made a little video available in my reels on Instagram, and also saved in the thumbnail for the Bad Batch Socks, showing how to execute the SECOND round. I could not find a video on YouTube as I had to rework the execution of the stitch so it would work in the round).
