The Baden Sweater Mini is a raglan sweater for children from ages 1-8 years. It is inspired by woven medieval belts and traditional Nordic motifs. The sweater uses three different colors and several different techniques including: broken rib, German Short Rows, raglan decreasing, woven stitch and stranded colorwork.
The sweater is worked from bottom to top in the round. First the bottom ribbing is worked in broken rib. Then the woven stitch and stranded colorwork are worked according to the charts. The rest of the body is worked in the main color only. Stitches are left to rest while the sleeves are worked in the round in stockinette, then attached to the body. Raglan markers are inserted, and the rest of the sweater is worked in the round in stockinette in the main color only. Raglan decreases are made straight up to the neckline, and raglan stitches are worked in broken rib. Before working the collar, German Short Rows are made on the upper back to give shape for the back piece. Finally, the neckline is worked in broken rib, then folded down to form a chunky collar.
