Badis Reversible Cowl is a textured cowl that is worked in the round using DK weight yarn. Used stitches – chains and double crochet – form a very stylish and unique pattern on both sides. Braids on the right side will look great in casual and everyday outfits. And if you are in a romantic mood or prefer dresses you can wear this cowl inside-out – the pattern on the wrong side looks very dinky reminiscent of waves.

I have named the design after the fish-chameleon Badis Badis. It is so versatile! Every time – using different types of yarn (fibers) – the stitch pattern looks in a new way. You will turn expressive braids, if you use a staple fibers, such as cotton, linen or wool. With roving or combed yarn (with silk, rayon or dralon) the stitch pattern will be “transformed” into 3D-stripes that resemble seams. So many capabilities and “faces”! Do you want to create your own?

The stitch pattern is simple and stunning, easy to memorize and perfect for crocheting while watching TV or to carry with you anywhere! The design is perfect for variegated yarns, particularly for self-striping yarns with long colored segments or ombre yarns with light and dark shades of a single hue.

The pattern includes both charted and written instructions. A photo-tutorial of the stitch pattern is provided. Also you will find in the pattern the photo-tutorial how to join new yarn or color and step-by-step calculations if you want your cowl wider/narrower.
