Baelfyr
This gorgeous asymmetric scarf/shawl starts out small and grows gradually. It’s a perfect showcase for a yarn with long-color changes or for a lightly variegated yarn. One skein? No problem! Both of the samples shown in the pattern use only one skein- one of a 652 yd lace-weight and the other of a 350 yard fingering. The lace pattern has a naturally beautiful finish to it, so you can work to the very last bit of yarn. Other tips are included in the pattern for using smaller amounts of yarn.
Gauge is not essential to this pattern. Use appropriate hook for your yarn.
Any size can be made from this pattern. With a very light blocking, the Freia sample is 54 inches across the shoulders and 30 inches at its deepest.
With a strong blocking the Hawthorne sample is 52 inches across the shoulders and 20 inches at its deepest.
4.5 mm hook, scissors, stitch marker, blunt tip needle for weaving in ends
Use your favorite lace yarn. I used Knitwhits Freia Handpaints Freia Ombré Lace in Flare: One skein!
Use your favorite fingering yarn. I used Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering in Wilshire: One skein!
