To implement this project, you need to know how to crochet only one basic stitch - a single crochet stitch (sc), and its variations:

  • single crochet in back loop only (BLOsc);
  • extended single crochet (Esc);
  • increase;

You will need up to 220 yds (200 m) of any Bulky (Chunky) or Super Bulky yarn (US weight category 5 or 6) with not less than 71 yds per 3.5 oz (65 m per 100 g).

Crochet hook US M (9 mm) and about 1.5 skeins of YarnArt EVEREST MAXI yarn (30% Wool, 70% Acrylic) used to crochet the item in the pictures:
1 skein = 146.5 yds / 7.04 oz (134 m / 200 g).

SUGGESTED YARNS:

  • Bernat WOOL-UP BULKY (20% Wool, 80% Acrylic, hand wash, dry flat),
  • Bernat SOFTEE CHUNKY (100% Acrylic, machine wash and dry).

NOTE: For an oversized slouchy hood with a super loose fit, the gauge 7-8 stitches per 4’’ (10 cm) is applicable.
