Balbina is a lightweight shawlette that can be worn in all seasons wrapped around the shoulders or tied at the front. This is a great pattern to use up some of those beautiful single sock yarn skeins hiding away in your stash.

Balbina is easy to knit with the pattern flowing intuitively allowing you to watch your favourite movie or chat with friends whilst busily knitting.
The shawl alternates the main (variegated) colour with the contrast (solid) finishing off with a contrasting colour band on one edge.

Blocking is also very easy; just hang or lay flat to dry, there is no need to pin.

For an average size shawl you’ll need two 50g skeins of sock yarn, one solid and one variegated or tonal. You can also use lighter or heavier weight yarn, this will affect the yardage needed and the size you obtain.

The shawl begins at one tip with the volume increasing on the wingspan (curved) edge. The last section is worked in the solid colour and is formed using very easy short rows, no need to wrap and turn!

The size is totally adaptable, you can knit a shawlette for a baby girl, an average size shawl or a big, big one to wrap around in cold season.

Balbina to niewielka zamotka na każdą porę roku, prosta w wykonaniu i przyjemna w noszeniu. Chusta jest dość intuicyjna i dzięki temu można ją z powodzeniem dziergać przy oglądaniu telewizji lub prowadzeniu życia towarzyskiego.

Balbina jest zaprojektowana na włóczkę skarpetkową i znakomicie się nadaje do wyrabiania tych wszystkich przecudnie kolorowych pojedynczych motków, na które brakuje pomysłów.
Można oczywiście użyć też cieńszej lub grubszej włóczki i wydziergać zupełnie inną wersję Balbiny.

Kolejną zaletą chusty jest fakt, że blokowanie odbywa się bez użycia szpilek!

Na średniej wielkości chustę potrzeba dwa 50-gramowe motki włóczki skarpetkowej, jeden w kolorze jednolitym, a drugi wielokolorowy.

Chustę rozpoczyna się od 3 oczek na jednym z rogów, a następnie zwiększa jej wielkość przed dodawanie oczek na przeciwprostokątnej. Jednokolorowa sekcja powstaje przy użyciu bardzo prostych rzędów skróconych.

Rozmiar można dostosować do swoich potrzeb, od małej zamotki na dziewczynkę do bardzo dużej chusty na ciężkie mrozy.
