The Balderdash Hat integrates all-over reversible cables with an interesting transition into the crown decreases that also has two good sides. Yes, this hat is fully reversible. 4 sizes cover the range from Baby to Adult. You can choose to knit a simple beanie or more of a watch cap with a really thick fold up brim.

The instructions are both fully written out in abbreviated format and fully charted. The 4-page pattern is formatted to facilitate printing only the pages of instructions that the knitter needs for either the written abbreviated or fully charted directions.

Finished size head circumferences:

• Baby: to fit 12-16in (30.5-35.5cm)
• Child: to fit 15-18in (35.5-45.5cm)
• Youth: to fit 17-22in (40.6-53.3cm)
• Adult: to fit 21-25in (50.8-61cm)

Required Materials: Super Bulky yarn. Add about 30% more if you want a fold up brim.

• 50 yards (46 meters) for Baby
• 85 yards (78 meters) for Child
• 125 yards (114 meters) for Youth
• 165 yards (151 meters) for Adult

Tools Required: You’ll need US10.5 (6.5mm) knitting needles (or the size required for you to make gauge). Use the technique of your preference - a long circular for working magic-loop; two circulars; a short circular and dpns; or just dpns. 1 stitch marker is strongly recommended for the beginning/end of round. A cable needle is optional as some knitters will find they can work the elongated stitches of the cables easily without a cable needle. A bodkin or crochet hook will help you with the finishing.

Stitches/skills used in the pattern: Knitted cast on, K, P, double wrapped stitches along with dropping all of the extra wraps when working them, 3x3 cables, centered double decreases both knitted and purled, knitting in the round (when knitting in the round, you can use the magic loop technique with a long circular needle; or 2 shorter circular needles; or start on a short circular needle and transition to double pointed needles as you work the crown decreases, or just do the whole hat on double pointed needles).
